Should The Church Teach Prosperity?

Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble. (Psalms 41:1) It is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35) Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in CHRIST JESUS (Col 1:28) Be ye therefore perfect, even as your FATHER which is in heaven is perfect. (Matt 5:48) I in them, and THOU in ME, that they may be made perfect in one… (John 17:23) GOD is love Free will lets us know the love of GOD Jesus died to take us out of sin There is no sin in CHRIST In CHRIST, we have a Savior Should prosperity be taught in the church? The elder unto the well-beloved Gaius, whom I love in the truth. Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. (3 John 1:1-2) If any man will come after ME, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow ME. (Matt 16:24) Consistency Sincerity Labor not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life…(John 6:27) Can we preach prosperity in the Church? But in vain they do worship ME, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. (Matt 15:9) Salvation does not come from carnal blessing Labor for the Spiritual But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. (1 Tim 6:6-10) our LORD was not prosperous, high and mighty our LORD wanted to heal people, and help people …what shall I do to inherit eternal life? (Luke 18:18) …If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow ME. (Matt 19:21) …they are the enemies of the cross of CHRIST: whose end is destruction…who mind earthly things. (Phil 3:18-19) …the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. (2 Peter 3:10) Teaching prosperity in the physical would not profit the people If ye then be risen with CHRIST, seek those things which are above, where CHRIST sitteth on the right hand of GOD. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. (Col 3:1-2) Success does not bring salvation Salvation does not bring (earthly) success …the devil taketh HIM up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth HIM all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them, and saith unto HIM, All these things will I give THEE, if THOU wilt fall down and worship me. Then saith JESUS unto him, Get thee hence, satan: for it is written, thou shalt worship the LORD thy GOD, and HIM only shalt thou serve. (Matt 4:8-10) Salvation now, in modern day culture, is defined by the success of what JESUS turned down …seek ye first the Kingdom of GOD, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matt 6:33) …THY will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. (Matt 6:10) …the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. (Job 1:21) Relate to the poor, to people suffering, love people more than money First commandment: …love the LORD thy GOD with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength… (Matt 12:30) Second commandment: …love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. (Matt 12:31) Have churches gone too far on this money thing? Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matt 6:19-21) For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36) And when he heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he was very rich. (Luke 18:23) But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions. (Matt 19:22) Salvation first - to the inward man - should be taught Teach, preach, and pray, for the souls Let us not waste time with things of no value Tell them about their souls, where they're going, and how to get eternal life WE LOVE YOU
